Meet your guide at your hotel or private residence in central Paris, then settle in your comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle for a journey through the Impressionist-inspired countryside, which will take you from the small medieval town of Honfleur on the Côte Fleurie (Côte fleurie), with its harbor nestled on the southern slope of the Seine estuary, to the charming village of Giverny, with a visit to Claude Monet's house and gardens.
Start your day in Honfleur after just over 2 hours on the road. A visit to Honfleur is in itself a lesson in complete history, from the 100 years war, through voyages of discovery from the New World in the 17th century to the art of the Impressionists. Honfleur is also the favorite retreat of painters who come to paint the port and the colorful houses of the 17th century surrounding the quai Sainte Catherine, the same images that can be seen in the paintings of Claude Monet or his friend and mentor, Eugène Boudin . You will have lunch (not included) in Honfleur.
In the early afternoon, you will head to Giverny where Claude Monet, head of the Impressionist school, lived from 1883 to 1926. The property of Claude Monet in Giverny, left by his son at the Académie des Beaux -Arts in 1966, became the Claude Monet Foundation after the completion of important restoration works, and, is now opened for visit.
You will be given time to visit the rectangular Clos Normand' enclosure of about one hectare, a symetrical garden with a lot of perspectives and colours, with arches of climbing plants entwined around brightly colored shrubs that stand in front of the house and the workshops, offering the painters a variety of colors from spring to autumn.
You will also enjoy the water garden, formed by a tributary of the Epte, which is located further in the shade of the weeping willows. Then, you will cross its famous Japanese bridge and enjoy the view of the wistarias, azaleas and its pond, which has once again become this coffin of sky and water which inspired the pictorial world of water lilies.
At the end of your visit, stroll through the village and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere before meeting back your driver/guide and returning to your hotel in Paris.
